Biography
Lightning McQueen is the protagonist of the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise. He starts as a talented but arrogant and self-centered rookie race car, obsessed with winning the Piston Cup. After getting stranded in the small town of Radiator Springs, he learns the value of friendship, humility, and that there is more to life than just racing.
Early Start
There is no official backstory other than he was a dirt track racer who met Mack and then worked towards getting on the big race circuit.
Challenges Overcome
Lightning's main challenge is overcoming his own arrogance and selfishness. He also has to learn to work with a team and accept help from others. In Cars 3, he faces the challenge of being an aging racer in a sport being taken over by a new generation of high-tech racers.
