Biography

Edward Michael "Bear" Grylls is a British adventurer, writer, and television presenter. He served in the British Special Forces (21 SAS) and has become synonymous with survival skills through his TV shows watched by billions worldwide.

Early Start

Bear learned to climb and sail from his father as a young boy. He earned his black belt in karate as a teenager and joined the Territorial Army at 18.

Challenges Overcome

In 1996, Bear broke his back in three places during a parachuting accident in Africa. Doctors said he might never walk again. Through determination and rehabilitation, he not only walked but summited Everest just 18 months later.
