Wim Hof, also known as "The Iceman," is a Dutch extreme athlete and motivational speaker renowned for his ability to withstand freezing temperatures. He has set Guinness World Records for swimming under ice and prolonged full-body contact with ice.

Early Start

At the age of 17, he felt a sudden urge to jump into the freezing cold water of the Beatrixpark canal.

Challenges Overcome

The death of his first wife, who died by suicide in 1995, was a major psychological challenge for him. He found that the freezing water was the only place he could find respite from his grief. He was also convicted of domestic violence in 2012.
