Arthur Ransome

Arthur Ransome (1884-1967) was an English author and journalist, best known for the "Swallows and Amazons" series of children's books. Born in Leeds, he was an unwilling student and moved to London to become a writer. He was in Russia during the 1917 revolution and reported on it for the Daily News and the Manchester Guardian.
